    Hi Everyone

I know that there is a lot going on at the moment but on Saturday a group of us gathered for short vigil at Pocket Park, Orient Way. I’d like to highlight the imminent threat to the 90 trees on the site, which is just across the way from the Waterworks Centre. Special thanks to Ian who did a sterling job of litter picking in an area that has been much neglected.

We’ve been in touch with Simon Miller, the lead Councillor, who has informed us the Council’s intention to a developer by Easter and to have it all wrapped up with planning permission by the end of the year.

For those interested the Council’s latest proposals can be seen on the attached link.

I note that the deadline for submission of any objections to the ice centre development is 10th March. Given that time is so short, what advice are you offering on how objectors should respond, for example regarding the loss of Metropolitan Open Land?

      Len,
I’ve now put a sample objection on the homepage of the SLM website.
      Best wishes,

    Point of information.

We are the organisers of the vigil at Pocket Park, Orient Way, E10 on the 7th Marsh and we wish to stress that this event is specifically to focus on Pocket Park, and the proposed chopping down of 90 trees and the development and privatisation of current open green space.

Whilst we are supportive of many campaigning groups, including Save Lea Marsh, this vigil is specifically to focus attention on the Pocket Park, which has been almost totally neglected by campaigners in recent times. This is a critical time, as we understand that the appointment of a developer is imminent.

All are welcome to attend but for the duration of the vigil ( 11 – 12 ) we intend the focus to be on the Pocket Park.
